ULTEM polyetherimide (PEI) is one of the most commonly used high performance materials. ULTEM offers excellent thermal performance and high mechanical strength and stiffness. It is inherently flame retardant, possesses good resistance to acids, and is capable of operating continuously in steam and hot water. ULTEM exhibits the highest dielectric strength of commonly available thermoplastics and is widely used in electrical applications.


Unfilled ULTEM 1000 is FDA and USP Class VI compliant. It is available in natural-amber transparent and black. Unfilled ULTEM has a continuous service temperature rating of 340° F. The strength of this product exceeds that of all other standard unreinforced engineering plastics. It retains its rigidity over a wider temperature range than crystalline products such as nylon, acetal and PET.

30% Glass Reinforced ULTEM 2300 provides enhanced stiffness, strength and dimensional stability for more demanding applications. Glass reinforced ULTEM products provide the highest stiffness and best dimensional stability over a wide temperature range versus other standard engineering plastics. This product is often an acceptable alternative to higher priced polyimide products when extreme thermal stability is not required.
